FFCP engaged with Danny and Jim Partin, members of the Belle Isle City Council, to discuss challenges faced by late-starting athletes. Jim’s daughter, a 13-year-old volleyball player, improved significantly during training at the Shot Lab but lacked opportunities to apply her skills in game settings.
Jim: "Everywhere you go, there has to be a coach over them."Harvey: "That’s what I’m saying. There is no place where kids can experiment on skills. Training is not enough; you must have a place to apply. Doing is not enough; you must practice with a purpose."
This conversation emphasized the necessity of experimental learning environments where athletes can test and refine their skills without fear of failure.
